Pokemon eats your soul...

Pokemon eats your soul...

"Pikachu! Use "Soul Eater!"

These are all true stories. Since I am feeling light hearted tonight, and not in a very venting kind of  mood, this is a light, funny post.

As a child, Pokemon was a big thing. I was in second grade when Pokemon hit the US, and kids were practically foaming at the mouth over it. I first discovered Pokemon when I was home from school sick one day. It was the episode where Ash got Charmander. In school I heard all the hype about it and thought nothing of it.

After watching the first episode I was hooked, my little brain was in the frenzy of "OMGPOKEMON!". Soon, I began collecting merchandise, collecting all the cards, had posters, and seen every episode at least five times.

Now you're probably wondering "Why is she rambling all about this?" Well, it's not just the posters and the episodes, what got me hooked was the games....
Now you're probably like "ahhh I know why she says Pokemon eats your soul, because it has ate mine before!"

I played every game for Gameboy color of pokemon, beating it multiple times, mind you. Then, it lost it's spark after a few years and three generations later. I stopped caring about it, not really thinking anything of all my Pokemon stuff collecting dust.
It was on to the next big anime, Yu-Gi-Oh (which, sadly, I am still collecting cards for).
I started half hating Pokemon after Misty left the series (she was my favorite character). And after the 250 mark, I stopped keeping track of every single Pokemon they were "finding".

It wasn't until about a year ago, where Pokemon has hit the mainstream again. I have absolutely nooo idea how I got swept away in the current. Actually, I do. My friend gave me his Pokemon Diamond for the Nintendo DS, which I have 100 hours logged on it. But, that's not the worst...here is my story.

*Figure 1*
It was no less than two months ago, where on a break from one of my classes, my friend showed me a website where you could play Pokemon, and a shit load of other nostalgic games online..for free. I took the website, came home, and I started playing my favorite version...Pokemon Crystal. I was hooked, again. I would go to bed around 5am, wake up, play it until I had something to do. When I came home again, the website was right back up. After a week or so of playing it, and my Typhlosion (Fig. 1) was about level 83, I checked my time logged in. 125 hours. I couldn't believe it. I spent 125 hours of my life playing Pokemon mindlessly, chasing down legendaries and trying to fill up my pokedex, and boxes with only one of each Pokemon. I was astonished.

I think the Pokemon games should come with a label. "Warning: May cause eye bleeding, and addiction". Or something along those lines, to warn these kids, teens and...adults that these games are horrible....horribly good that is. I could sit down and play these games for hours (as previously stated) and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. I just hope to get Black and White soon for my DS. I don't think i'll ever put them down.
"Warning, may cause you to be a lifeless meat puppet"

Thank you for reading !! =D

  1. I like this one. It made me laugh and remember all of the times I snuck my brothers gamecube away from him and played it.
